I think one should sign their name in it, that way you will know it is time to dust.
If you date it, you will know how long it has been since you last dusted, and that can be embarassing.

When I worked the spot light for the plays at Clay they had dust so thick on the ducts next to the catwalk that some of the dates were too dusty to read. I don't think I put my name in it since it was so dirty and scary up there.
